23 August 2017: Three composing projects for jazz bass
These three composing projects are part of our recent jazz resources update. Each has a step by step guide for students to compose a jazz bass suitable for a composition, arrangement or performance.
The projects are in a swing or bossa nova style and may be simplified by completing them at the end of each step.
Composing Project 1
Suitable for junior students, this project is to compose a 16 bar swing walking bass using only diatonic notes.
Composing Project 2
This project is a swing walking bass, 32 bars long (AABA form) and uses both diatonic and non-diatonic notes.
Composing Project 3
This project is 16 bars long in a bossa nova style and uses diatonic and non-diatonic notes.
